Urbanears – The Scratch Poster

The poster was created to launch Urbanears’ new product, Slussen, A mobile DJ mixing system app. The illustration is engraved with ridges that produce sound as they are sound as they are scratched with your fingernail. The sound emulates vinyl record scratch techniques, used when mixing. The posters were put up in selected shops, fly posted around town and used in a big event, where people could scratch their hearts out to a thumping track.

The patterns are based on traditional DJ Techniques and methods, the various combinations and spacing of ridges makes it possible to emulate a raft of signature sounds such as one click and two click flares, chirp flares and traditional scratches

The Analogue interface was designed in conjunction with DJ’s to give a user experience that captured the essence of their art. The posters were lazer engraved on thin acrylic and mounted on polyboard to amplify the sound.
